    Brief description of the programme/project/Initiative :

    PRERANA is a G2C web based application by NIC for Department of ST & SC Development and Minority & Backward Class Welfare, Govt. of Odisha successfully implemented during 2011-12. It is an integrated e-Governance Portal for the automation, streamlining & effective management of processes related to application receipt, processing, sanction and disbursal of various scholarships to Students. This initiative is aimed to facilitate faster and efficient disposal of scholarship applications and timely payment of the scholarships to the students directly in their bank accounts.

    Why was the project started :

    The stakeholders of the project are found to be widely spread both vertically and horizontally. The dependency in delivery of services are so high, it was too difficult to manage, keep track of the needy students whether provided with the service or not. The accuracy in the service was also found to be very poor. The time period of delivery of service was exceeding six months. Realising the fact, the Commissioner – cum – Secretary took initiative to use the latest ICT solution to over come this problem and finally NIC, Odisha State Center is assigned with the PROJECT.

    Objective :

    The project is meant to be an e-Governance oriented Web Portal catering to both G2C and G2G domains. As part of the effective monitoring, Government will develop and launch a web based role based online application system for Apply/Renewal/Sanction/Disbursal of Scholarship with utmost accuracy, transparency & accountability at every level and promote timely assistance to the needy post metric students of govt. of Odisha. The web portal will ensure the social audit by the Citizen on publishing the details recognise institute across the state, their courses along with the fee structure and finally the sanction orders of each student.
