    Brief description of the programme/project/initiative :

    ESDS’ ePDS system is built on the premise: “Public Distribution System in India now needs a “Quality and Transparent Revolution”, which can be brought about through the much-needed reforms like Information access, pricing, rural infrastructure. The objective of ePDS is to provide improved transparent services to the poor while maintaining seamless processes for the Government. ePDS is a “way-forward” solution aiming to improve Distribution system in the state, and make the PDS paperless thus truly achieving our vision.

    Why was the project started?

    To understand the Public Distribution System which has always been perceived as “complicated” and to understand its working. In the bargain, try and propose solutions to modify the existing system to eradicated waste, duplication and misappropriation of funds, ration cards and goods.


      Improve and provide advisory and extension services to citizens of State using ICT tools ·Development of Decision support Systems and databases ·Development of Citizen centric applications for better transparacy and to reduce Government losses. ·Improve dissemination of information on Government programs and services. ·Improve information exchange within and between state to center for better planning and implementation of government schemes

    1. It calculates demand based on new Ration card allocations every month. Can be used to forecast demand in a system with a growing number of customers
    2. It finds duplicate entries based on multiple parameters. So if one type of search fails, there are easy options available for a different search which may eventually show up results.
    3. Accurate calculation of Kerosene distribution mechanism, which can be used for initiatives involving distribution based on demand
    4. The system has been designed based on the role, which means that the admin can decide what level of officers have access to which level of information. This feature can be used where access levels need to be defined.
    5. This system uses Cloud technology, which can be used by almost any System, leading to cost saving and high performance, even with a lot of customers.

    1. There are separate Databases for each Taluka, but are interconnected, so can be combined to form District wise, State wise, region wise database
    2. Can be used from the highest authority to the end user, from the highest point to the grassroot level.
    3. Employs auto scalable Cloud Solution, which guarantees unlimited resources allocated as per the need
    4. Structured/ Indexed Database to handle large no.of queries
    5. Open for future systems ubcluding Biometrics, UID etc
